The Maxi 100 ARCA SGR is not only one of the boats, the most competitive on the race courses of the Mediterranean, but it is also the project of the circular economy of the Fast and the Furio Sailing Team and Arca Fondi SGR, which made her the first vessel to obtain the certification, EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) of the shipbuilding industry.
The project of the circular economy has turned a wreck in a boat race to the best performance in the world. An extraordinary project, which is based on talent, skill and passion and it shows how it is possible to combine sustainability with performance excellence. A project that, thanks to the technical support offered by Mapping the LCA, it has allowed for the Maxi Yacht 100 ARCA SGR to achieve the first certification EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) of the shipbuilding industry.
The history
The Maxi Yacht ARK 100 is found by Furio Benussi at the end of 2018 in a small shipyard on the island of Menorca. In the 2019 part of the project BoReAS (Boat Recycle in Action for Sailing Project), which sees immediately involved Arca Fondi SGR, is one of the sponsor of the initiative, aims to put at the disposal of the Fast and the Furio Sailing Team, a racing boat fast-paced and competitive, while minimizing environmental impact, associated with the construction from scratch of a boat with the same technical characteristics and performance.
In the space of a few months, using almost exclusively waste materials and with a low budget, the Team, led by Furio Benussi able to put in the boat. In 2019 , after a series of extraordinary maintenance interventions carried out in Trieste, the boat returns to racing.
By 2021 , the Maxi-Yacht 100 ARCA SGR follows a series of incredible success, crowned by the triumphs of the Giraglia and the Barcolana.
Thanks to the excellent sports results, to the many initiatives of charity supported by Arca Funds and the role of Ambassador of the charities of the Skipper Furio Benussi, the Maxi-Yacht 100 ARCA SGR is, today, a phenomenal platform of sustainability initiatives. A project that, starting from the circular economy comes to cover the different aspects of the approach to ESG, which constitutes a unique example of synergy, coherence and multiplication of the value.
